Building A Healthy Base Tan With SuntanCityAchieving an optimal tan at Suntancity is a process that requires more than just basking in the sun and waiting for your melanin to turn brownish. Since your skin is the most vital and protective organ in your body, you need to make sure that you take maximum care of it. Before going to the pool or beach for a tan, you need to build a base tan by visiting SuntanCity Salons or another tan beautician in your locality.

People who are tanning for the first time or who have seen a considerable amount of time away from suntancity should start the tanning process slowly and gradually build up the amount of time they spend in the sun to protect their skin from burning. This process of gradual exposure is what is known as building a base tan. If you are tanning in Suntan city, make a point of asking a staff member for a recommendation of how long you should expose yourself before you plunge fully into tanning.

Alternatively, you can experiment to find out when your skin is ready to go full-force into the tanning salon. At Suntancity, the best way is to check that your skin does not turn pinkish after tanning. A Prickly and over-sensitive sensation on your skin could also mean that you are not ready for full-time tanning. Experts suggest that you should expose yourself 3 or 4 times for about two minutes in order to build a considerable base tan.

It is also important that you keep your skin healthy even as you clamor for a tan from our Suntancity products. An optimally moisturized and replenished skin will respond more to a tan than a skin that is rarely given any attention. Lotions were created for application on the skin, and you should make use of them. More important however, you should use an approved suntan lotion every time you are hitting the tan salon.

Using a suntancity tanning lotion is not only beneficial to your skin but also adds additional tan color to your melanin and extends the durability of your skin tan. You also accomplish a full-blown tan faster. Some lotions contain ingredients which supplies more oxygen to your skin, making it darker and considerably accelerating the tanning process.

Exfoliating after tanning session also helps your tan to develop more naturally. The process involves scrubbing off old skin cells to be replaced with newer and tanned cells. This minimizes the chances of your skin developing complications. Suntancity has experts who will help you with exfoliating.

Applying sunscreen during the first few days of exposure to the sun will also protect your skin from getting burned. You can find out from suntancity which sunscreen is best for your particular skin type and what amounts you need to apply. People with fairer skins are especially advised to consider investing in the suntan tanning sunscreen.

By following the right procedure to build your base tan in Suntancity, you keep yourself at a safe distance from contracting skin cancer and other skin complications. Experts at suntancity can are always accessible to give you tips that will help you develop a healthy tan. The internet is also rich with healthy tips and you should make a point of reading more on ways to build a base tan.

Very believable color - without streaks or funny smell! from Glastonbury, CT Verified Purchaser
This is the best self tanner I ever used. The color looks totally natural - brown, not the orange look I've had from virtually every other tanner. The brown color guide helps a lot, so there is not streaking whatsoever. My best advice would be to keep washing your hands frequently as you apply the tanner. The first time I used it, I didn't wash my hands until the end and it took me literally ten minutes to get all the rubbed in color off my hands. I also needed to use a pumice. But the good news is my palms had no hint of color on them in the morning, so the pumice idea is actually great. Review posted 6/25/2012.

Very natural looking tan. from Toronto, ON Verified Purchaser
The tan I got was very close to my natural color of a tan. Doesn't have the usual self-tanner scent - smells like almonds. I apply it every other day to maintain the color. Stains hands a lot even if you wash them immediately after and will stain your bedding as well (but washes away without a trace on white sheets). Palms of your hands return to normal color by the afternoon the next day. One bottle lasts for approximately 2-3 weeks with every other day application on a petite body. Review posted 6/16/2012.

Very Natural Tan from Evanston, IL Verified Purchaser
I've tried many 'high end' tanning products and this lotion produces by far the most natural tan. At first I was a bit shocked at how dark the lotion was, but in applying it, the color was a plus because it made it obvious when I was putting too much on one area of skin. I've never bothered to write a review before. This product more than deserves praise. I use it all the time now, even in winter for just a light bit of color. Review posted 11/12/2012.

Very good, realistic color from a self-tanner from Ipswich, MA Verified Purchaser
The best quality of this self-tanner is that it contains a color guide that actually stains your skin (some of it washes off, but part of the color guide remains and is long lasting) and so the color guard tint adds to the DHA self-tanner color...this makes the resulting 'tan' more realistic than a DHA self-tan alone would be. Normally I avoid self-tanners with color guides as they tend to be messy, to stain clothing and look dirty, but this product's color guide actually has a purpose in that it improves the final tan color. That usually isn't the case, especially with most drugstore self-tanners. Also, this product has very little of that unattractive self-tanner scent. Lastly, because the concentration of DHA is quite high, you use less (one or two coats) to get a dark color, but you avoid being orange because of the residual stain of the color guide. The end result is a reddish brown tan color. This is pricey, but will last a long time and a worthwhile investment if you tend to turn orange with self-tanners. Good product! Smells great! from pomona, NY
I was weary of trying out this product at first...however I am glad I did. It smells AMAZING. Dries very quickly. It WILL stain your hands, but you can scrub your palms with pumice after if not wearing gloves. It's a nice even application with minimal streaking after day 2 and 3 (like most products) Review posted 7/7/2012.
